Miracle Mama: Amanda

Full story →

Before

Devastated, couldn't talk about fertility without crying, living in fear and control, people-pleasing, lack of self-love

Key Shift

Learning true surrender vs giving up, developing self-advocacy, trusting her body, setting boundaries, addressing childhood trauma

After

Confident in medical decisions, able to surrender while taking action, living joyfully, trusting divine timing

From Unexplained Infertility to Autoimmune Discovery

Amanda's journey began with typical fertility struggles that doctors couldn't explain, despite heavy periods and obvious symptoms. After years of being told everything was normal, a functional medicine practitioner immediately identified Hashimoto's autoimmune disease as the root cause affecting her thyroid, gut health, and fertility.

The Power of Medical Advocacy and Second Opinions

Amanda's willingness to change doctors twice led to crucial discoveries, including uterine polyps that were missed by the first specialist. Her gut instinct about resonating with practitioners became a key factor in her success, demonstrating the importance of finding medical advocates who truly care.

Learning Surrender vs. Giving Up

The breakthrough came when Amanda learned to distinguish between surrender (trusting while living fully) and giving up (becoming desperate). Within six months of embracing this energetic shift in 2023, focusing on joy and fun rather than control, she conceived through IUI.

Surviving a Pregnancy Crisis Through Mindset

At 10 weeks pregnant, Amanda was told her baby wouldn't survive due to severe bleeding and a subchorionic hematoma. Rather than accepting this doom prediction, she surrendered to the highest good and watched her body respond - the bleeding stopped overnight and the hematoma eventually healed completely.

Questions This Episode Answers

How can autoimmune disease affect fertility and why do doctors miss it?

she was like, no doctors ever told you that, you know, you have an autoimmune disease. And I was like, what are you talking about? She's like, oh, yeah. She's like, you have Hashimoto. Very typical, you know, one of the most common autoimmune diseases out there, but it affects your thyroid, and pretty much your body is attacking your thyroid.

Amanda16:10

Autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's attack the thyroid, which affects gut health and hormone regulation, directly impacting fertility. Many fertility specialists focus on reproductive organs rather than looking at root causes.

What's the difference between surrender and giving up in fertility?

I couldn't delineate the difference between surrender and giving up. And, yeah, I would have, like, dreams about letting go. And I'm like, I need to know. I need to let go. I just don't know how because I need to control this.

Amanda22:03

Surrender means trusting something bigger while still living your life fully and taking inspired action. Giving up means becoming passive and desperate. Surrender has a completely different energy that actually attracts what you want.

Should I change fertility doctors if I don't feel heard?

I am the leader of this. Like, I am running this three ring circus. The this is my circus. These are my monkeys. And getting everybody else in line to focus in on your success.

Rosanne Austin2:54

Absolutely. You're running your fertility journey, not your doctor. If a specialist doesn't resonate with you, isn't compassionate, or misses obvious diagnoses, find someone who truly advocates for your success.

Can your thoughts actually affect your body's ability to heal?

It wasn't until I decided I was gonna be fine that the hematoma started healing. And for the first two weeks, my hematoma was still there and it wasn't shrinking. And then I decided, again, I'm just gonna let this go. This will heal on its own. It wasn't until in my mind that I said this is gonna heal that my body responded.

Amanda34:00

Yes, your body responds directly to your mental decisions. When you truly decide healing will happen and let go of fear, your body often follows that command and begins the healing process.

How accurate are fertility statistics for individual cases?

you're gonna be a victim of statistics, long faced miserable proclamations about your prognosis... you're handing your power over to everyone else without taking even a moment to say, wait a minute. I am the leader of this.

Rosanne Austin2:34

Fertility statistics are population averages that don't determine your individual outcome. You get to choose whether to focus on the percentage chance of success or failure - both are real possibilities for you.

What should I do if doctors give me devastating pregnancy news?

I literally had to surrender to no control over this. The worst experience ever. And, you know, I remember in the hospital, my husband, I just hold hands and be like, he's a miracle, and he's still alive right now.

Amanda25:51

Remember that you don't have to accept their worst-case scenario as your truth. Get second opinions, trust your intuition, and focus on what you can control - your response and your belief in the highest good outcome.

TeachingEmpowering16:10

When doctors can't explain your fertility issues, it's often because they're not looking at root causes like autoimmune conditions that affect hormones and gut health.

Amanda had heavy periods and unexplained infertility for 2+ years until a functional medicine practitioner immediately identified her Hashimoto's autoimmune disease, which was attacking her thyroid and affecting her fertility through gut-hormone connection.

BreakthroughEmpowering34:00

Your body responds directly to your mental decisions - when you decide healing will happen, your body follows that command.

Amanda's subchorionic hematoma stopped shrinking for 2 weeks while she lived in fear, then began healing immediately after she decided 'this is gonna heal' and let go of worry. The hematoma completely resolved after her mental shift.

TeachingReframing22:03

Surrender and giving up are energetically completely different - surrender is trusting something bigger while still taking action, giving up is becoming a victim.

Amanda conceived through IUI within 6 months of learning true surrender in 2023, after 3+ years of trying. She distinguished surrender (trusting divine timing while living fully) from giving up (becoming passive and desperate).

TeachingFierce13:35

You must be willing to change doctors when they don't resonate with you or provide compassionate care - you're running this circus.

Amanda changed fertility specialists twice and switched hospitals mid-pregnancy when told 'here's a diaper, go home' at 10 weeks. Her willingness to advocate for better care directly contributed to her son's survival and her positive pregnancy outcome.

ReframeReframing22:21

Desperate energy repels what you want - your future child wants to come to a fun, joyful mom living her life, not someone who has put everything on hold.

Amanda conceived after deciding in 2023 to focus on fun, enjoying life, having drinks, and not obsessing about diet. Within 6 months of this energetic shift from desperation to joy, she conceived through IUI.

TeachingChallenging15:09

Statistics are meaningless when applied to your individual case - you get to choose whether to be a statistic or an exception.

Amanda was given a 3% chance of natural conception and 10% with IUI, but chose to focus on the 10% possibility rather than the 90% failure rate. She succeeded with IUI, proving statistics don't determine individual outcomes.

TeachingEmpowering39:42

Your subconscious programming controls your fertility outcomes more than you realize - you must do the inner work to uncover what you're really thinking.

Amanda discovered through mindset work that childhood trauma, lack of self-love, and people-pleasing patterns were affecting her fertility. After addressing these subconscious blocks through the Fearlessly Fertile Method, she conceived within 6 months.

TeachingFierce27:11

Medical professionals often give worst-case scenarios without empathy, but you don't have to accept their doom and gloom as your truth.

Amanda was told at 10 weeks pregnant 'here's a diaper, go home, this baby won't make it' due to a subchorionic hematoma. She chose not to believe this prognosis, surrendered to the highest good, and carried her baby to 36+ weeks successfully.

Perspectives 2

Age is the primary factor in fertility decline and you should panic about getting pregnant after 35

CONSIDER: Age is often used as a catch-all excuse when doctors don't have real answers for your fertility challenges

You should follow whatever the 'best' fertility specialist tells you without question

CONSIDER: The 'best of the best' specialist may not be the right fit for you - trust your gut and find doctors who truly care about your success
